XML Isn't Everything, and Never Will Be

The widespread popularity of markup languages, especially XML, in the last decade has greatly helped in the handling of textual data. XML is a good thing. But it's not everything. And it never will be.

In fact, the success of XML has inhibited the creation and proliferation of non-XML processing facilities in programming languages, so the guy's claim has been, to some extent, self-fulfilling.
